It's
finally summer holidays! That's one whole week of
sleeping as late as I want, not riding the busy commuter trains and not
thinking about my
j-o-b (said in a hushed voice). I kicked off
my week of bliss on top of the Takashimaya department store in Kyoto
with some of my favorite people. What's on the roof of Takashimaya?
What Japan does best in the summer: a beer garden. Pay a set fee and
you can spend the evening eating and drinking as much as you'd like.
Add in a cool location and great company, and you have the makings of
the perfect evening!
When the sun goes down, the lights come on!
Despite the blurriness, I love this one...
Most
of the big department stores in the cities have roof top beer gardens,
and although they usually set aside a few tables for walk-ins,
reservations are recommended. You can read about another beer garden
(maybe my favorite in Japan)
here.
